- Not quite sure what ingredients irritate my skin, but I can wear Jane Iredale eye shadow, Elta MD tinted sunscreen, and some clean beauty/sensitive skin products. I use mostly Odacite skin care products. Mac paint pot is the only primer that works well for me, but it irritates my skin (my eyelids swell up the day after I wear it).

Hey everyone! I’m reviewing my first MAC Paint Pot today, the shade Painterly. Read on to know more about the much raved-about MAC Paint Pots.
About M.A.C. Paint Pot- Painterly: A highly pigmented eye colour that goes on creamy but dries to an intense, vibrant finish. Long-wearing, colourfast. Creates seamless coverage without weight or caking. Blends smoothly over the lids. Cream-based, can be mixed with M·A·C shadows and liners.

Packaging: M.A.C. Paint Pot- Painterly comes packed in the standard MAC packaging, a black, square cardboard box, with white print. Inside, the product comes in a transparent, round glass pot, with a matte black screw-on lid. The pot itself is quite bulky, I feel, and it may break if dropped.
Ingredients: Please refer to the below pic:

My take on M.A.C. Paint Pot- Painterly: Painterly is a light beige coloured creamy eyeshadow, with a pink undertone. There are no shimmer or glitter particles. The texture is smooth. The pigmentation is good, and it covers lid pigmentation too.

The product needs to be scooped out from the paint pot manually, so that raises a hygieneconcern, though I make sure I always use a q-tip to pick up the shadow from the pot. After application, the paint pot sets on the skin within 4-5 seconds, so all the blending needs to be done very quickly. It sets to a powder finish, and hence it may not look flattering on aged skin. If worn alone, the eyelids may look too dry. Once set, it does not budge from its place. I have tested it for 10 hours at a go, and it did not fail me. There’s no creasing too. Painterly increases the wear time and vibrancy of any powder eyeshadows that are applied over it, and hence is a very good base for other shadows. No doubt, these are one of the best available eyeshadow bases/ primers in the market. It didn’t cause any irritation on my skin whatsoever.

Personally, I feel painterly is a tad too milky for the regular olive skin tones found in our country, but still it isn’t something we can’t carry, just that I would prefer something which complements our skin tone better. So if you’re looking for a light base for eyeshadows, pick Painterly up without any doubts, else you can pick some other MAC Paint Pot.
Below I have swatches 2 eyeshadows from the VOV 98-in-1 palette, with and without Painterly. We can clearly see the increase in intensity and vibrancy of the eyeshadows with painterly as a primer/ base.

Pros of M.A.C. Paint Pot- Painterly:
·Sets quickly after application, but still allows time for blending
·Any powder eyeshadows applied over this show up with increased intensity
·Increases the staying power of eyeshadows, hence is a very good eyeshadow primer
·Does not irritate the eyes
·Huge quantity in one pot. Even if used daily, one pot will easily last for around a year
Cons of M.A.C. Paint Pot- Painterly:
·The shade may not complement all skin tones, but that also depends on whether you’re wearing it alone or as a base to darker eyeshadows
Verdict: M.A.C. Paint Pot- Painterly is highly recommended if you want a good base for other powder eyeshadows.
Rating: 9/10
Have you tried MAC Paint Pot- Painterly?
If pop culture history has taught us anything, it’s that reality stars come and go, but makeup trends will change, only to return again at some future date like Halley’s Comet.
(Side note: Speaking of reality TV stars, am I the only one who thought that the craziest thing about Flavor of Love was that the prize for winning the show was Flavor Flav himself?)
I digress…
I hope the release of the new MAC Patent Paint Lip Lacquers ($22 each) signals that glossy lips are poised to make a comeback. While I’m not mentally prepared to revisit all of the accoutrements that accompanied them in the early aughts (the frosty brow bone, pencil thin brows, hip-hugging jeans, and the camisole tops, a.k.a. my clubbing uniform, HA HA HA!), I’m more than ready for lipgloss to step into the limelight again.

There are 13 shades in this new line of lively lip lacquers, and MAC punched up the pigments to the max, so each full-coverage swipe evenly and completely covers your kisser. They also combine the thin, non-sticky viscosity of a Cremesheen with the endurance of a Lipglass, so the result is a long-lasting, opaque, comfortable gloss that stays put for hours.
I’m an NC42, and the shade I wear most is deep rosy mauve Lacquered Up, because the middle-of-the-road rose tone goes really well with the brown, purple and gold eyeshadows I love to wear so much.

I was most excited about the lighter nude shades like Magic Mirror and Lacquered Up — they’re so very early 2000s! — but they’re a touch too pastel on my tan skin to wear on their own, so I like to layer a darker lip pencil like Subculture or Cork with them for depth.
And while I’m not usually one to wear a greige-lavender gloss to run errands around town, even I have to admit that the pale purple looks kinda cool.

I like these a lot. They don’t feel sticky or goopy, and you only need the tiniest bit.
Def check out Lacquered up if you can!

And since we’re on the subject, did you have a go-to MAC gloss back in the day? Like Oystergirl, Nymphette or Spite? Inquiring minds want to know. ?
